Neon workshop!
Have you ever wanted to make your own neon light sculpture? (No, not the plastic LED - we’re only about the real deal glass stuff here :)
Well, now you can! I’ve wanted to offer this service for YEARS, but haven’t been able to until now. In the workshop we will be making (by we I mean you will be making with my guidance ;) an abstract GLASS neon sculpture that lights up and can be hung on your wall or table or even as a floor piece should you so desire!
What will be offered in the workshop:
A brief history of neon, how it’s made, its traditional usages
A little background about my training and experience in the medium
A conversation about what YOU WANT to make (this is an intro class so we will be sticking to SIMPLE and abstract)
Getting into the fires + make a practice piece with clear tube, then onto our colour piece!
A brief closing chat while we unpack how the class went for all of us
Time to go! We will make arrangements for pieces to be picked up or dropped off. Expect 2-4 weeks (I will get them to you sooner if possible, but I like to under promise over deliver)
You might feel very proud you got into the fires (yes fire is how the glass is shaped by hand, if that makes you nervous I can help you! We will all however be signing a waiver so I can safely instruct you and also continue to teach others without incident) and have your very own neon light piece that will live on for years (possibly decades…)
